Cochran County Sheriff's Office (Deputy Positions)

Cochran County Sheriff Deputies perform the following duties; patrol, traffic enforcement, civil process, prisoner security and transport, and other duties as assigned.

Candidates must be licensed Texas Peace Officers and must possess a valid Texas drivers license with an acceptable driving history. Candidates must be a pro-active and self motivated team player willing and able to work alone as well as with fellow deputies, jail staff, and officers from other agencies. Candidates must be able to complete detailed reports in a timely manner. Must be willing to work shift work, weekends, holidays. 10 or 12 hour shifts, and long distance prisoner transports . Candidates are NOT required to establish residency in Cochran County but may be subject to recall with little notice for emergency, or special assignment. Take home patrol vehicle program for candidates that establish county residency. Starting salary is $19.93 hourly for 162 hours paid monthly. Retirement and group medical insurance for the employee, paid vacation, paid holidays, longevity pay, and sick time.

Must pass comprehensive background check

Must show proficiency with all firearms.

Must pass medical assessment.

Must pass drug screen.
