POSITION TITLE: Corrections Officer
JOB SUMMARY: Individuals are responsible for the general supervision of inmates as assigned to his/her duty station, the preparation of incident, booking data and other prisoner-related reports, the security and safety of inmates and the facility. Other duties to include feeding prisoners; supervising the daily cleaning of the facility; classifying prisoners; taking fingerprints; moving prisoners throughout facility; handling violent inmates/physical confrontation; handling intoxicated and/or prisoners under influence of drugs or other substances; handling mentally ill prisoners; observation of suicidal inmates and responding to such attempts; responding to other medical emergencies; responding to fire alarms/fires and safely evacuating prisoners. Shift work is required.
QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or GED is required. One (1) year of experience is desirable. Must be 18 at time of hire and have a valid Texas driver’s license. Certification as a Jailer by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education preferred or must be obtained within the first year of hire. Must pass: written test; agility test, criminal history background check; drug screen, physical exam and psychological exam.
SALARY: Pay Group LE6-3 $18.75/hourly
