POSITION: DEPUTY SHERIFF

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: RESPONSIBLE FOR PATROL ASSIGNMENTS AND OTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT DUTIES AS ASSIGNED BY THE SHERIFF

  1. Handle routine calls for service
  2. Respond to emergency calls or in progress crimes
  3. Enforce criminal, traffic, health and safety code violations
  4. Assist during major emergencies and natural disasters with evacuations and perimeter security
  5. Arrest prisoners
  6. Prisoner transportation
  7. File crime and incident reports
  8. Conduct basic investigations
  9. Evaluate and secure crime scenes
  10. Render first aid In appropriate situations
  11. Locate and interview victims and witnesses
  12. Other duties, as assigned
  • Minimum age 21. High School or GED.
  • Must be a current TCOLE Certified Peace Officer
  • Ability to work all shifts, holidays and weekends, and a variety of assignments as directed
  • Applicants must pass a background check, psychological, and post-offer medical exam and drug screen
  • Applicants must be a minimum 21 years of age, a U.S. citizen, hold a valid State of Texas Driver License and have good driving record
  • Applicants must have never been convicted of a Class B misdemeanor in the last ten years or ever been convicted of a Class A misdemeanor
  • Military discharges must be Honorable; TCOLE discharges must be Honorable

Beginning salary: $17.52 hr
