Randall County Sheriff's Office (Patrol Deputy Position)

The Randall County Sheriff’s Office is currently taking applications for the position of Patrol Deputy.  Prospective outside applicants will need to complete an application by May 24, 2017, and current Sheriff’s Office employees, who would like to transfer to Patrol, will need to submit a letter to me by the same deadline.  Testing will begin on May 30, 2017.  On May 30th, applicants will complete the physical agility course, the firearms proficiency testing, and the written test.  The oral interview will be scheduled for the afternoon of May 30th, and on May 31st.  In order to qualify for the patrol test, you will need to score an 80% or better on the firearm proficiency testing.  Scores below an 80% will make you ineligible to take the written test. 

The top 10 scores on the written test will be eligible for the oral interview.  Only the top few applicants from the following categories will make the final list.  Scoring for the patrol list will be as follows:

100 Points -                         Firearms proficiency

100 Points -                       Written test (Questions will come from Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, Family Code, Title 3 and 4, Health and Safety Code (Chapters 481-483, 573, 826), Transportation Code, Chapter 543, and the Randall County Ordinances, which can be located on the Sheriff’s Office website.

200 Points -                         Oral Interview

5 Points -                             Intermediate Peace Officer Certificate

5 Points -                             Advanced Peace Officer Certificate

5 Points -                             Master Peace Officer Certificate

5 Points -                             Military experience (Honorable Discharge)

2 Points -                             Associate Degree

5 Points -                             Bachelor’s Degree

8 Points -                             Master’s Degree

5 Points -                             Intoxilyzer Operator

5 Points -                             ID Technician

5 Points -                             TCOLE Instructor

5 Points -                             Firearms Instructor

5 Points –                            Prior Law Enforcement supervisory experience

5 Points -                             Field Training Officer

5 Points -                             Medical Certifications (ECA/EMT)

12 Points -                           2 Points for each complete year of service with Randall County; or,

12 Points -                           1 Point for each complete year of service with another law                      enforcement agency

6 Points -                             OTHER (Up to 6 points for other certifications that would be                    beneficial to Patrol)
